HOLLAND, Mich. – The Grand Valley State swim and dive teams on both the men's and women's sides captured the 2026 GLIAC Championship title. This marks the women's fourth consecutive title and their eighth overall, as they finished with a score of 1,095. The men scored 847.5 to earn their 12th consecutive title and their 15th overall.
Linda Frick earned a bronze medal in the 1650 freestyle, placing third with a time of 17:25.94. Lucy Hedley claimed the GLIAC title in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.37, marking her fourth GLIAC title of the championship meet. Avery Rottier earned bronze in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.86.
Vittoria Proietti captured the GLIAC title in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.40. Alice Persson earned silver with a time of 2:00.55, while Staci Nation placed fifth in 2:03.48.
Elliott McAlpine broke both the school record and the GLIAC meet record in the 200 breaststroke, winning gold with a time of 2:13.91. Olivia Geiger touched the wall in 2:17.59 to take fourth place. Macy Polasek posted a score of 421.95 to earn silver in the 1-meter dive.
The women's 400 freestyle relay team won gold with a time of 3:23.39. Members of the relay team included Rottier, Villamil, Angilletta, and Hedley.
On the men's side, Raul Briceno placed fourth in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:37.18. Evan Scotto DiVetta won the GLIAC title in the 100 freestyle with a time of 43.19, followed closely by Mahmoud Abdelkarim, who earned silver in 43.38. Valerjis Curgelis placed fifth with a time of 44.33.
Anton Rauch finished fourth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:46.62. Andrew Goh won the GLIAC title in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall at 1:58.11.
The men's 400 freestyle relay team earned silver with a time of 2:54.60. Members of the relay team included Ferguson, Usama, Chrisoffel, and Scotto DiVetta.
