HOLLAND, Mich. – After day three, the Lakers on both the men's and women's side have remained strong in first place and will carry that position into tomorrow's final day of the 2026 GLIAC Championships. The women's score is 777, and the men's score is 654.
Lucy Hedley touched the wall at 4:50.70 to take first place for the Lakers and add another GLIAC Championship medal to her collection. Katie O'Connell took third place with a time of 4:55.81.
Vittoria Proietti grabbed the top spot in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.01, taking home the 2026 GLIAC Championship medal.
Olivia Geiger earned the silver medal in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.95. Gaia Tomaselli finished strong in the 200 butterfly to bring home the 2026 GLIAC Championship medal with a time of 2:04.22.
The 800 freestyle relay team touched the wall at 7:23.63 to take first place for the Lakers and bring home the gold medal. Members of the relay included Angelica Angilletta, Vittoria Proietti, Linda Frick, and Katie O'Connell.
On the men's side, Berk Boz grabbed the third-place podium position in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:26.37. Mahmoud Abdelkarim touched the wall at 47.00 to take the gold medal in the 100 backstroke, while Valerijs Curgelis earned bronze with a time of 47.84.
Andrew Goh touched the wall at 53.31 to take home the gold medal in the 100 breaststroke. He was named the 2026 GLIAC Champion in the event, marking his third consecutive GLIAC Championship title in the 100 breaststroke.
Matthew Blommel earned the silver medal in the 3-meter dive with a score of 510.80. Max Schwickert placed third and brought home the bronze medal with a score of 488.80.
The men's 800 freestyle relay team brought home the silver medal in the event with a time of 6:33.10. Members of the relay included Ferguson, Gaebler, Rauch, and Briceno.
