Paige VanStee named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

ALLENDALE, MICH. - Grand Valley State redshirt senior Paige VanStee has been named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career, as announced by the league office earlier this afternoon.

Over three Laker road victories, VanStee recorded 57 points, 24 rebounds, six steals, six assists, and two blocks. To start out the week, she tied her career-high, scoring 26 points, adding seven rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block in the 88-59 win at Ferris State.

In Thursday's 66-47 victory at Parkside, VanStee tallied her third double-double of the season, posting 13 points and 10 boards, while adding three steals. She played a massive role in helping hold the Rangers to their lowest scoring output this season.

On Saturday, she scored a game-high 18 points, including the 1,000th point of her Laker career, in the 75-37 win at Roosevelt. VanStee totaled seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal as well. For the second straight game, GVSU held their opponent to their season-low in points, allowing less than 40 points for the third time this season.

This is the fourth career Player of the Week award that VanStee has won, winning twice for offense and twice for defense.
