Swim & Dive Swept Wayne State On Both The Men's & Women's Sides

ALLENDALE, Mich. — The Grand Valley State men's and women's teams earned two wins against Wayne State. The women won 219–81, while the men posted a 172–128 victory.

On the women's side, the 200 medley relay touched the wall in 1:47.04 to take first place. The relay consisted of Vittoria Proietti, Liv Geiger, Avery Rottier and Samara Zeinert.

Lucy Hedley won the 1,000 freestyle, touching the wall at 10:32.15, while Linda Frick placed second with a time of 10:43.04.

Katie O'Connell and Angelica Angilletta finished first and second in the 200 freestyle with times of 1:57.37 and 1:57.91.  Vittoria Proietti captured first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.55, followed closely by Alice Persson in second at 1:00.88.

Liv Geiger won the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.29, and Elliott McAlpine placed third with a time of 1:08.78. Yunona Freese and Gaia Tomaselli tied for second in the 200 butterfly, each posting a time of 2:14.93. Lucy Hedley earned another first-place finish in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall at 23.87. Angelica Angilletta took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.65, while Annabelle Nixon placed third.

In the 200 backstroke, Vittoria Proietti finished first at 2:05.61, and Alice Persson placed second with a time of 2:08.65. Elliott McAlpine won the 200 breaststroke in 2:23.69, followed by Liv Geiger in second at 2:25.96.

Hedley secured her third individual victory of the meet in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:07.11, while O'Connell finished second in 5:10.56.

Alex Evans placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.31, and Staci Nation took third at 1:01.14. The Lakers swept the top four spots in the 200 individual medley, led by Katie O'Connell (2:10.29), followed by Vittoria Proietti (2:11.58), Elliott McAlpine (2:11.80) and Sara Alvarez (2:12.16).

The women's 400 freestyle relay closed the meet with a first-place finish, posting a time of 3:36.24. The relay team included Avery Rottier, Ana Villamil, Angelica Angilletta and Lucy Hedley.

On the men's side, the 200 medley relay team placed second with a time of 1:32.74. The relay consisted of Kerian Rahmaan, Jan Matejczuk, Matti Gaebler and Evan Scotto DiVetta.

Raul Briceno won the 1,000 freestyle in 9:36.56, while Berk Boz placed third. Carsyn Christoffel finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:45.29, and Youssef Emad placed third at 1:45.56. Anton Rauch took third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.86.

Jason Yeou won the 100 breaststroke in 59.22, followed by Levi Rozema in second at 1:00.22. Matti Gaebler captured first place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:54.21. Evan Scotto DiVetta and Ali Usama finished first and second in the 50 freestyle with times of 20.42 and 21.16, respectively. Scotto DiVetta also claimed first place in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall at 45.18. 

Anton Rauch placed third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.92. Jason Yeou won the 200 breaststroke in 2:09.56, while Jan Matejczuk finished second at 2:12.03. Briceno and Boz placed first and second in the 500 freestyle with times of 4:38.94 and 4:44.41.Ali Usama won the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.86, and Gaebler placed third in the 200 individual medley at 1:57.58.

The men's 400 freestyle relay closed the meet with a first-place finish in 3:04.12. The relay team consisted of Usama, Christoffel, Rauch and Scotto DiVetta.
