INDIANAPOLIS, IND.- The GVSU swim and dive team completed Day 2 of the National Championship, securing 3 individual podium spots, a 4th-place finish in the men's 200 medley relay, and two new school records. The women's team is currently in 6th place with a score of 67, behind Colorado Mesa (4th) and Clarion (5th). The men's team is in 5th place with a score of 82, just behind McKendree.
On the women's side of the pool, Sara Alvarez touched the wall at 2:02.59 in the 200 IM, finishing 13th and earning All-American honors.
The women's 200 medley relay team finished in 10th place with a time of 1:40.99. This set a new school record, and all members of the relay earned All-American honors. The relay team included Vittoria Proietti, Sara Alvarez, Alysa Wager, and Lucy Hedley.
Maddie Kooistra took 3rd place in the women's 1-meter dive with a score of 441.65, bringing home the trophy. Olivia Kutsche competed in the consolation round, finishing 14th and also earning All-American status with a score of 380.95.
On the men's side, Esteban Nunez Del Prado finished 15th in the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.54, earning All-American recognition.
Evan Scotto DiVetta broke a school record in the 50 free during prelims earlier this morning and went on to take 4th place in the finals with a time of 19.59, earning All-American honors. Jon Kantzenbach earned a podium spot in the men's 1000 free with a time of 9:09.33, finishing 8th and earning All-American status.
The men's 200 medley relay, composed of Aaron Dies, Andrew Goh, Esteban Nunez Del Prado, and Evan Scotto DiVetta, finished 6th with a time of 1:25.73. All earning All-American honors.
Events for tomorrow of the Championship will include 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 Free, Men's 3 mtr. Dive.
