ALLENDALE, MICH. - Coming off the program's 11
th GLIAC title a season ago, the GVSU women's lacrosse team look to add to the trophy case in 2025, as they were voted first in the league's preseason coaches' poll. The Lakers earned four first-place votes and 16 total points.

GVSU went 17-2 a season ago, sweeping the GLIAC regular season and tournament championships. The Lakers will have a new coach on the sidelines this spring, with
Dominique Hamman taking over the head coaching duties. A former graduate assistant coach for GVSU, Hamman returns to Allendale to take the reins of a program that has won 35 consecutive GLIAC contests and made three straight NCAA Tournament Appearances. The Lakers were ranked seventh in the USA Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll.

The Lakers return a strong nucleus of players, especially on the defensive side that led the country with a 4.94 GAA last season. On the offensive end, GVSU will have seven of their top 10 scorers returning to Allendale. All-American goalkeeper
Kaylyn Cater will be back in the cage for GVSU after posting 83 saves on a .512 save percentage. Also on the back end are All-GLIAC performers
Kylie Waeghe and
Elora Ferrie, as well as fellow starter
Lauren Volk. In the midfield, All-Region selection
Ashleigh Rothe returns, along with
Zoe Ziegler,
Ella Boose, and
Ainsley Shilling. Those three will join
Delaney Smith and
Jillian Bingman on the offensive side of the field as well. Smith is the Lakers leading returning point scorer, notching 46 points on 22 goals and 24 assists.

The Lakers begin their season on February 23
rd at Indiana (Pa.). They start GLIAC play on March 28
th on the road at Concordia-St. Paul.
