HOLLAND, Mich. – The GVSU women's and men's swim and dive teams take home the 2025 GLIAC Championship title. This is the women's third GLIAC title in a row, and they scored a 1096.5 to win it. Behind the women were NMU (753.5) & WSU (650). The men took home their 11th consecutive title with a score of 809 behind them were WSU (707) & NMU (579).
Awards were handed out earlier tonight and Head Coach Andy Boyce and his crew won Coaching Staff of the Year. Maddie Kooistra won Diver of the Year, Lucy Hedley won Swimmer of the Year, and Esteban Nunez Del Prado won Freshman of the Year.
Lucy Hedley grabbed gold for the Lakers with a time of 49.37 in the 100 free. She also broke the pool, school, GLIAC Meet, and GLIAC overall record. Hedley swept the GLIAC with all her respected events.
Gaia Tomaselli touched the wall at 17:25.68 to take seventh for the Lakers. Vittoria Proietti won gold for the Lakers in the 200 back with a time of 1:58.24 and broke the school record.
Sara Alvarez touched the wall at 2:15.65 in the 200 breaststroke to grab gold for the Lakers. Ellliot McAlpine took home bronze to help the Lakers in this respected event.
The women's 400 freestyle relay team took home gold with a time of 3:22.81. This time broke the school, pool, and GLIAC meet record. Members in this respected event are Kiersten Harmon, Lucy Hedley, Annabelle Nixon, and Alysa Wager.
Jon Kantzenbach touched the wall at 15:40.22 in the 1650 to grab fourth place for the Lakers.Thomas Zoldowski took home bronze in the 200 back with a time of 1:45.35.
Matt Bosch touched the wall at 42.99 in the 100 free to get silver and broke the school record. Evan Scotto DiVetta got bronze for the Lakers with a time of 43.84.
Andrew Goh broke the school, pool, GLIAC meet, and GLIAC over records in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:55.38. Goh took home gold in this respected event.
The men's 400 relay took silver home for the final event of the night with a time of 2:54.51. Members of this team are Scotto DiVetta, Christoffel, Neitzel, and Bosch.
"It was amazing to see our teams come together as a group to win the conference championship. We can't wait to see how many will qualify for the NCAA Championship!" stated Head Coach Andy Boyce.
