ALLENDALE - Grand Valley State sophomore forward Sarah Fromm and freshman goalkeeper Macie Hunter were named the GLIAC players of the week announced by the league office today. The marks the first time this season GVSU has swept both player of the week honors and is the third straight week at least one Laker has earned player of the week honors. 

Sophomore Sarah Fromm was named the GLIAC offensive player of the week for the second time this season. Fromm notched a goal and assist last weekend to help GVSU to a pair of GLIAC wins against Parkside and Purdue Northwest. She scored the game winning goal in the 77th minute in the 1-0 win over Parkside for her team leading fifth goal of the season. On Sunday, Fromm assisted on the game winning goal in the 2-0 win at Purdue Northwest. Fromm leads GVSU offensively with five goals and 12 points on the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Macie Hunter has earned GLIAC defensive player of the week honors for the first time in her career. Hunter started in goal in both games last weekend and posted two clean sheets in wins over Parkside and Purdue Northwest. She recorded two saves to help GVSU defeat Parkside 1-0 at home on Friday. Hunter helped the Lakers complete the weekend sweep by notching another shutout in the 2-0 win at Purdue Northwest. She has appeared in six games making five starts this season without allowing a single goal. Hunter has posted five consecutive individual shutouts to begin GLIAC play.
