#3 Lakers Host Parkside Friday; Travel to PNW Sunday

ALLENDALE – The No. 3 Grand Valley State women's soccer team returns home for a Friday match before going back on the road on Sunday this weekend. The Lakers will host Parkside at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 3rd and will travel to face Purdue Northwest at 12:00 PM ET in Hammond, Indiana.

GVSU is coming off back-to-back 4-0 road victories over Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. The Lakers have started conference play with a 3-0 record with three shutouts. Mackenzie Ford was named the GLIAC defensive player of the week after scoring the game winning goal against Northern Michigan and being a key role in the Laker defense that allowed just nine shots with three on target. This marks the second straight week a Laker has earned defensive player of the week honors. 
 
GVSU is 6-1 on the season outscoring their opponents 16-4, while outshooting opponents a dominate 140-37. Sarah Fromm leads the Lakers with four goals and nine points. Fromm scored a penalty kick goal against Northern Michigan and dished out her first assist in the win over Michigan Tech. Alli French scored her second game winning goal of the season against Michigan Tech and is up to three goals for six points with a team leading 19 shots with 10 on target. Sonya Mehta and Ivy Wilhelm have each notched two goals and two assists for six points. Cora Conley and Sophia Morgan lead the Lakers with three assists. 
 
Freshman goalkeeper Macie Hunter has started the past three games for GVSU and has posted a 4-0 record this season. Hunter has yet to allow a goal having recorded three straight individual shutouts making four saves. 
 
Parkside enters Friday's match in first place in the GLIAC standings with a 3-0-1 conference mark. The Rangers are one point ahead of GVSU in the standings having played one more match. Parkside is 3-3-1 overall and head to Allendale with a three-game winning streak. The Rangers defeated Saginaw Valley State 3-1 and Purdue Northwest 2-1 last weekend. Emily Mikkelson leads the Rangers with two goals and four assists for eight points. Ava Rizzitano has notched two goals and three assists for seven points. Carley Nolte leads Parkside with three goals, while Lindsay Dahlinger has notched two game winning goals. Tristen Cross has made six starts in goal making 30 saves.
 
Purdue Northwest is 3-2-2 on the season with a 1-2 GLIAC mark. The Pride have outscored their opponents 8-6 but have been outshot 76-65. Mia Davis leads Purdue Northwest with four goals and eight points. Davis has netted one game winning goal and has recorded 17 shots with nine on frame. Dakota Fulkerson and Addison Thomas have each scored one goal and dished out one assist for three points. Poppy Jackson has made seven starts in goal making 22 saves on the season.
