#3 Lakers Take Down Parkside

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The third-ranked Grand Valley State women's soccer team hosted Parkside Friday afternoon in a matchup of the top two teams in the GLIAC. In front of a crowd of 451, the Lakers pulled out the 1-0 win. GVSU moves to 7-1-0 overall and 4-0-0 in GLIAC play.
 
The two teams played to a scoreless first half. The Lakers put up five shots compared to just one from the Rangers, with each goalkeeper making a save. The corner kicks were an even 2-2 across the opening 45 minutes of action.
 
GVSU would score the go-ahead goal off a corner kick in the 77th minute. Sophia Morgan took the corner, passing it to Ivy Wilhelm, who headed it to Sarah Fromm, who found the back of the net.
 
The Lakers held Parkside to just four shots, with only two being on goal. Macie Hunter made two saves in the net to put up the Lakers' fourth straight clean slate. Fromm led the Lakers with five shots, while Alli French and Cole Lance each had two. Defenders Kacy Lauer, Mackenzie Ford, and Acadia Murphy played all 90 minutes.
