ALLENDALE - Junior midfielder Sonya Mehta was named the women's soccer GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week announced today (Oct. 27) by the league office. This is the first time this season Mehta has earned offensive player of the week honors. 

Mehta scored two goals and dished out two assists for six points in the 6-1 win against Michigan Tech on Sunday. She opened the scoring in the sixth minute against the Huskies and assisted on the game-winning goal in the 27th minute. The junior scored the final goal of the game in the 54th minute as the Lakers would notch their highest scoring game of the season. Mehta ranks second on the team with five goals and four assists and is third with 14 points this season.

GVSU will host Davenport this weekend on Friday, October 31st at 5:00 pm and Purdue Northwest on Sunday, November 2nd for Senior Day at 1:00 pm. Both games will be streamed live on FloCollege.
