Men’s and Women’s Tennis Compete at ITA Cup for First Time in Program History

ROME, Ga. – The Grand Valley State men's and women's tennis teams have players competing at the ITA Cup beginning today (Oct. 16) in Rome, Georgia. This marks the first year in program history that a player from both the men's and women's teams have advanced to the ITA Cup.

Natasha Sengphrachanh punched her ticket to the ITA Cup after winning the top bracket singles ITA Midwest Regional Championship at Davenport University last weekend. Sengphrachanh became the first GVSU singles player to win the ITA Midwest Regional after going a perfect 6-0. She faces the top singles player from Queens (N.Y.) in the first round.

On the men's side, Patricio Sepulveda and Bora Bakici advanced to the ITA Cup after winning the top bracket doubles championship at the ITA Midwest Regionals held at GVSU. The doubles pair became the second GVSU doubles pair to win the ITA Midwest region doubles championship after Lucas Gonzalez and Victor Lopes do so last year. Sepulveda and Bakici will face the top doubles pair from St. Thomas Aquinas in the first round today at 4:00 PM.
