ALLENDALE, MICH. – For the first time in program history, the Grand Valley State men's golf team has earned the number one ranking in the country. The Lakers were voted atop the Division II poll in Scoreboard's first ranking of the fall season. Additionally, five individuals were inside the top-35, with
Bryce Wheeler earning the top spot in the nation.

This fall, GVSU has played in four tournaments, winning two of them, and finishing as the runner-up in a third. The fourth, Folds of Honor, saw the Lakers defeat six Division I teams, including two Power Five programs. They received 73.29 points, almost eight more than any other team and posted a record of 32-1 in Division II tournaments this year. The number one ranking marks the first time in program history that GVSU has been atop the rankings. Their previous high ranking was being second during the 2021-22 campaign.
On the individual side,
Bryce Wheeler is the second Laker ever to be the top golfer in the country, joining Charlie DeLong. Wheeler has won one event, earned another runner-up, and placed fourth in a third.
Andrew Gwilliams comes in eighth, the highest ranking of his career.

Maverick Conaway is ranked 35
th. GVSU is the only team in the country with five golfers in the top 35.
The Lakers finish off their fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the Nemacolin Intercollegiate in Farmington, Pennsylvania.
