FARMINGTON, PENN. – The Grand Valley State men's golf team teed off in their final tournament of the fall season, playing at the Nemacolin Intercollegiate. After completing the first round, the second round was suspended due to darkness, but it was still enough for GVSU to open a 26-stroke lead.
Results
GVSU ended day one at four under par, shooting -6 in round two before it was suspended. In second is Hillsdale, who shot +22, followed by UIndy in third at +24. Anderson and Findlay are both tied for fourth, ending the day at +25.
All five Lakers are inside the top ten, led by
Manuel Cue Vargas atop the individual scoreboard. Cue made six birdies on the day, finishing at four under par. Three strokes back of him in second is
Charlie Cooley, who made six birdies.
Maverick Conaway and
Bryce Wheeler are tied for fourth, each shooting one over. Conaway sank seven birdies and Wheeler had four.
Andrew Gwilliams carded five birdies today, ending at two over.
The Lakers will complete round two, then tee off for the final round starting tomorrow morning.
