ALLENDALE, Mich.- The GVSU men's and women's snatch wins at home to start off the new year this afternoon against the Warriors of Wayne State University.
On the women's side, the Lakers outscored the Warriors 215 to 84. Katie O'Connell touched the wall at 10:33.16 in the 1000 yard freestyle taking first place for the Lakers.
Lucy Hedley grabbed the win in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.75. Hedley touched the wall at 51.94 to take first in the 100 free. Hedley took first place in the 500 free with a time of 5:05.01.
Kiersten Harmon touched the wall at 24.68 in the 50 yard freestyle to take first place.
Vittoria Proietti took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.41.
Staci Nation was right behind to take second.
Sara Alvarez finished first in the 200 yard breast with a time of 2:26.42.
Alysa Wager touched the wall for the Lakers at 58.89 to take first in the 100 yard butterfly.
The women's 200 medley relay team took first place with a time of 1:47.32 with members that included Proietti, Alvarez, Wager, and Harmon.

Lucy Hedley finished first in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.11.
On the 1 mtr. Diving side,
Macy Polasek scored a242.63 to take first place. Right behind him was Kutsche (3rd) and Kooistra (4th).
Maddie Kooistra placed first in the 3 mtr. with a score of 280.50.
The GVSU men's team had an impressive night as the score 207 against Wayne State 93.
Matt Bosch took first place in the 200 yard freestyle, touching the wall at 1:39.20. He also claimed first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 45.11 and first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.09.
Aaron Dies finished first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 50.33. Andrew Goh took first in both the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 56.11 and the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07.15.
Raul Briceno grabbed first in the 1000 yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 9:38.94, and also placed first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:40.60. Jon Kantzenbach secured first place for the Lakers in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.48
The men's 200 medley relay team claimed first place with a time of 1:30.99, featuring Aaron Dies, Andrew Goh, Neitzel, and Scotto DiVetta. In the men's 200 freestyle relay, Evan Scotto DiVetta, Aaron Dies, Carsyn Christoffel, and Matt Bosch finished first with a time of 1:22.82, setting a new pool record for the Lakers.
Carter Wood scored a 309.23 to take first place in the 1 mtr. Dive. Two other Lakers took second and third place. Matt Blommel took second place for the Lakers in the 3 mtr. Dive with a score of 285.15.
