Drew Coble Named CSC First-Team Academic All-American

ALLENDALE, MICH. – Grand Valley State men's golfer Drew Coble has been named College Sports Communicators First-Team Academic All-American, as announced by the organization earlier this afternoon.

In his fifth year in Allendale, GVSU senior golfer Drew Coble put together the best season of his career. Coble earned the first All-American honor of his career, garnering First-Team honors from PING and the GCAA. He was the eighth player in program history to be named All-American, earning the program's 10th total All-American honor. This year, Coble was named the GLIAC Golfer of the Year, as well as PING All-Region. In his 13 tournaments, Coble notched three wins, and five additional top-10 finishes. Coble was victorious at the Folds of Honor Challenge, the Lander Bearcat Classic, and the Ralph Hargett Memorial Invitational. The Lake Orion native was one of five finalists for the Jack Nicklaus Division II Player of the Year award. He shot 29 rounds of par or better, carding 15 rounds in the 60s with a low round of 67. A graduate student in Communications, Coble posted a 3.76 GPA and was a member of the GLIAC Academic Excellence team and earned a GLIAC Commissioner's Award.

To earn the distinction of CSC Academic All-American, the student-athlete must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, appear in 90% of the team's games, and earn Academic All-District honors. Once the All-District team is selected, those athletes are put in a pool, and athletic communications members nationwide vote for the All-American team.
