ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU women's lacrosse team had seven players earn national honors, with seven being named to the IWLCA Midwest All-Region team, and five of them selected USA Lacrosse Magazine All-Americans.

Earning All-Region honors were
Maddy Champagne,
Aislynn Alkire,
Kaylyn Cater,
Sydney Stone,
Ashleigh Rothe,
Hailey Crittenden, and
Hope Leinen. Champagne, Alkire, Cater, Stone, and Rothe were all first team selections, while Crittenden and Leinen were named to the second team.
Champagne, Alkire, Cater, Stone, and Crittenden were also named All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine. Champagne and Alkire were on the second team, Stone on the third team, with Cater and Crittenden on the honorable mention team.
Champagne leads the Lakers with 68 points on 53 goals and 15 assists, notching 11 hat tricks this year. She has added 54 draw controls, 47 groundballs, and caused 20 turnovers.
A big part of the nation's best defense, Alkire has forced 24 turnovers and picked up 35 groundballs on the Laker backline. GVSU has yet to allow double-digit goals this season and has held their opponents to less than five goals 12 times this season.
Cater ranks third in the nation with a .545 save percentage and leads the country allowing just 4.46 goals per game. She picked up 79 saves and 12 groundballs, notching 15 wins for the Lakers. She has eight games with five or more saves and picked up her 100
th career save earlier this season.
Stone is second on the team with 51 goals, recording 12 hat tricks this season. She added a team-leading 59 draw controls, 43 groundballs, and caused a team-high 31 turnovers.
Crittenden put together the best season of her career, scoring a career-high 37 goals, notching 45 total points. She tallied six hat tricks, including a career-high six in a win at UIndy, while adding 23 groundballs and caused 15 turnovers.
Rothe had 30 points on 21 goals and nine assists, with 48 draw controls, 35 groundballs, and causing 27 turnovers. She totaled four hat tricks during the season.
On the backline, Leinen was a key cog in the Laker defense. She had 22 groundballs and caused 11 turnovers and earned one GLIAC Player of the Week honor.
