GVSU Swim and Dive Completes Day 2 of the Calvin Winter Invite

Grand Rapids, Mich.-  The Lakers held their own in Day 2 of competition in the Calvin Winter Invite. 

Starting on the women's side, Katie O'Connell breaks the school and pool record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:18.16 and she takes first place. Two other lakers took second and third place in this event. 

Alysa Wager grabbed third place in the 100 yard fly with a time 54.77. Lucy Hedley took first place in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:49.16. Angelica Angilletta took second place right behind Hedley with a time of 1:52.20.

LivGeiger placed third  in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.97. Staci Nation completed the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 56.77 to take fourth place.

Members of the 200 yard relay touched the wall at 1:43.49 to take fourth place.  

Maddie Kooistra scored a 446.7 to take first place in the 1 mtr. Dive. Olivia Kutsche placed third for the lakers. 

On the men's side, Esteban Nuñez Del Prado touched the wall at 46.79 to take first place in the men's 100 yard fly. Right behind Nuñez Del Prado, third place was Brennan Neitzel with a time of 48.41. Luis Ojeda Bosch took second place in the 400 IM with a score of 3:57.16 and Will Herwig took third place with a time of 3:57.97. 

Matt Bosch touched the wall at 1:34.90 for a new pool record at Venema Aquatic Center and snagged first place. Austin Millard took second place in this event. 

Andrew Goh touched the wall at 53.75 in the men's 100 yard breaststroke to take second place. Aaron Dies completes the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 48.57 to take third. 

The men's 200 yard medley relay was timed at 1:27.39 to take 4th place with members that include: Andrew Goh, Brennan Neitzel, Esteban Nuñez Del Prado, and Evan Scotto DiVetta

Carter Wood scored a 464.15 to take second place. Behind him in third and fourth were Austin Clise and Matthew Blommel.

The GVSU men's and women's teams will compete in Day 3 on Saturday, December 7th, with events scheduled at 10 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. for the finals of Round 3. Diving will also begin at 10 a.m. and conclude with the finals at 6 p.m. To follow along on round 3, click here.
