The Men's and Women's teams took home two tough losses against Oakland University

Rochester, Mich.-  The Lakers competed on the road at Oakland University and took home two tough losses both on the men's and women's side. 

The men fought hard but came up short 114-186.

Starting on the diving side for men's , Carter Wood scored a 300.00 in the 1 mtr. Dive to take first place.  Matthew Blommel competed in the 3 mtr. Dive with a score of 293.70 to take second  place to help the Lakers.

Esteban Nunez broke the school record with a time of 53.59 in the 100 Yard Breast. He took second in this event. Nunez Del Prado touched the wall at 47.18 in the 100 yard fly to take first place. He finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.77.

Evan Scotto DiVetta took first place in the 50 yard free with a time of 20.04. Scotto DiVetta took second place in the 100 yard free. Matt Bosch touched the wall at 43.96 to take first place in the 100 yard free. Thomas Zoldowski touched the wall at 1:47.47 in the 200 yard backstroke to take first. 

The women's swim team had a tough loss against Oakland University 140 -160.

Lucy Heldey took first place in the women's 200 yard free with a time of 1:48.68. Hedley touched the wall at 49.96 in the 100 yard free to take first place and to break the school record. She had a time of 4:53.83 to take first in the 500 yard free.

Katie O'Connell touched the wall at 10:15.24 in the 1000 yard free to take first place. 

Sara Alvarez took first in the 100 yard breast with a time of 1:03.02 and right behind her in second and third was Elliott McAlpine and Liv Geiger. Alvarez also took first place in the 200 yard breast with a time of 2:17.45. Alvarez touched the wall at 2:02.83 in the 200 IM for second place  Vittoria Proietti had a time of 1:59.32 to take first place in the 200 yard backstroke.

Maddie Kooistra scored a 245.85 in the 1 mtr. Dive to take second place. Emi Goto took second place in the 3 mtr. Dive with a score of 251.70.

The GVSU men's and women's team will have a couple of weeks off to prepare for the Calvin Invitational that will start on December 5th and go until December 7th. This event will be held at the Venema Aquatic Center. More information to follow.
