Indianapolis, Ind.- The Lakers were on the road this afternoon competing against the University of Indianapolis in a head to head meet.
The no.4 men's team lost a tough meet against ranked 2, University of Indianapolis with a score of 130.5-167.5.
On the men's side, GLIAC Swimmer of the Week Matt Bosch competed in 4 different events. He took first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:40.18, while also placing first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 44.81.
Thomas Zoldowski helped the Lakers in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 50.24 to take second place beyond his teammate Esteban Nunez Del Prado who took first with a time of 49.58. Zoldowski took second place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:50.00.
Sophomore Matt Blommel scored a 292.70 in the 1 mtr. Dive to take first place. Blommel also competed in the 3 mtr. Dive with a score of 283.80 to take first place to help the Lakers.
On the women's side, no. 2 Lakers tied with no. 9 University of Indianapolis with a score 150-150.
Junior Lucy Hedley led the Lakers in 3 first place events. Hedley competed in the 100 yard freestyle and the 200 yard freestyle with times of 51.08 and 1:50.67. She was also a member of the 400 yard freestyle relay that placed first with a time of 3:28.88.
Women's GLIAC Swimmer of the Week Sara Alvarez competed in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:08.12 placing first. She was a member of the 200 yard medley relay that touched the wall at 1:47.25 to take second. Alvarez competed in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.52 to take second.
Senior Maddie Kooistra placed second in the 1 mtr. Dive with a score of 235.90. Sadie Huizenga took second place in the 3 mtr. Dive with a score of 222.45.
The GVSU men's and women's team will head to Marquette, Mich to face Northern Michigan and Saginaw Valley state in a GLIAC Tri-Meet at 11 a.m.
