Grand Valley State athletics released the three games that will be aired live on WXSP-TV for the 2023 football campaign. WXSP-TV will serve as the exclusive live in-market television partner for the Lakers. WXSP is channel 15 over-the-air locally, but the channel could vary depending on cable or satellite systems.
The slate of games on WXSP-TV will begin with the home opener set for Saturday, Sept. 9th versus Colorado State-Pueblo. Kickoff at Lubbers Stadium is set for 7 p.m. In addition, WXSP-TV will air the Saturday, Oct. 7th contest versus Kentucky State (7 pm) and the Saturday, Oct. 14th Anchor-Bone Classic versus Ferris State (3 pm).
"We are excited to once again partner with WXSP to bring three GVSU football games to West Michigan on WXSP-TV," said Deputy Director of Athletics
Doug Lipinski. "We feel it is important that we continue to bring Grand Valley State athletics to West Michigan on a local television channel and we want to be the brand in Grand Rapids."
Bryan Fongers will handle the play-by-play duties for Laker football on television and video streaming on FloSports for the 2023 campaign, while Bob Mitchell will continue with color commentary. Tom Cleary stepped down after the 2022 season after handling the GVSU broadcasting duties for over 20 years.
Every game, home and away, will also air on radio on 97 LAV in West Michigan, with coverage beginning 90 minutes before kickoff.
