The Grand Valley State football team went through a two-hour, controlled practice for the final installment of the 2026 Spring schedule Saturday afternoon at Lubbers Stadium. Fourth-year head coach
Scott Wooster blended a staff of four returning coaches with the addition of five newcomers with a talented cast of returning letterman and 12 transfers.
"We had a phenomenal spring in all facets of the game," said Wooster. "Our coaches did an unbelievable job of teaching and coaching, and our players were receptive and absorbed everything we wanted to install. The kids trusted our coaches, and it was so refreshing to see the effort and energy every single day when we turned the page to the 2026 season," added Wooster.Â
The Lakers return 57 letterwinners, including six starters on offense and six starters on defense.Â
"We have a talented group that bought into our process from day one," added Wooster. "We have a great blend of returnees that have seen a significant amount of action throughout their careers, with a group of transfers that we feel will fill the voids of what we needed on both sides of the ball. We were able to see the growth and maturity of this team through every meeting and practice," added Wooster.
Grand Valley State will open the 2026 season at Charleston (WV) on Thursday, August 27, with the beginning of a five-game home slate set for Thursday, September 3 versus West Texas A&M.Â
