ALLENDALE, MICH. – Grand Valley State will host its 2026 Spring Football Game on Saturday, April 18 at Lubbers Stadium. The annual Spring Game marks the end of spring practice ahead of the upcoming season. The day kicks off at 12PM.
The annual spring game is free and open to the public, giving fans their first look at the 2026 Lakers. GVSU Football merchandise will be available, concessions will be open, and Athletics representatives will be on hand to assist with season ticket information and answer questions. You can find free parking near the stadium in lots B, C, and F.
Grand Valley State University Admissions will also host an Admitted Students Tailgate, in conjunction with Athletics. Incoming GVSU freshman will have a sneak peak of the GVSU Football gameday experience at Lubbers Stadium. The Admitted Students Tailgate will be hosted outside of the stadium on the practice field beginning at 11am.
Fourth-year head coach Scott Wooster will use the spring game to put the finishing touches on another productive 15-practice spring session, as the Lakers continue to build momentum heading into the fall.
The Lakers enter spring with heightened excitement following the addition of one of the top NCAA Division II recruiting classes in the country. GVSU signed 36 players, including 30 high school standouts who earned all-state or all-area honors, along with 11 mid-year transfers who are expected to contribute immediately.
"We were able to get exactly what we wanted in all facets of the recruiting process," Wooster said. "This class is made up of incredibly talented players who have produced at a high level and come from winning programs. We also added an elite group of transfers who will impact all phases of the game."
The Lakers emphasized strength in the trenches, signing 14 combined offensive and defensive linemen, a key focus as they continue to build a physical and balanced roster.
Grand Valley State is currently in the midst of offseason conditioning and development, with spring practice underway and the program preparing for another competitive campaign in 2026. The 2026 home opener is slated for Thursday, September 6 at 7:00PM against West Texas A&M. It is also the return of the White Out game! Single game tickets will go on sale mid-July.
