GLIAC - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the results of its preseason football poll, as voted on by league coaches, on Monday (July 31) to open GLIAC Football Media Day, which took place in Grand Rapids, Mich.
The Lakers were selected to finish second in the conference with 31 points and received one first place vote. GVSU won the GLIAC championship last season with a perfect 6-0 mark and finished the 2022 season with a 12-1 record.
Ferris State was selected to finish first in the GLIAC with 34 points, receiving five first place votes. Davenport received one first place vote and was voted to finish third with 27 points, while Saginaw Valley State was tabbed fourth with 21 points. Michigan Tech was voted fifth with 16 points, Wayne State in sixth with 10 points, and Northern Michigan in seventh with eight points.
The Lakers will begin the 2023 season under first-year head coach
Scott Wooster on the road at Colorado School of Mines on Thursday, August 31 with kickoff set for 8:00 PM ET.
