Grand Valley State set a Lubbers Stadium record in 2023 with 100,882 attendees at eight Laker football home games. The previous record was 100,388 during the 2016 campaign. Grand Valley State, which was 8-0 at Lubbers Stadium in 2023, has led the nation in both total and average per game attendance in Division II football for 12 consecutive years. In addition, GVSU eclipsed the two million (2,039,804) mark for all-time total attendance at Lubbers Stadium during 2023 campaign.  

The Lakers' regular season total of 82,555 outdistanced the GLIAC combined total attendance mark of 80,117. 

GVSU, the 2023 GLIAC Champions, finished 11-2 overall and advanced to the NCAA DII Quarterfinals.
