ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team hosted the ITA Regional Tournament this past weekend (Sept. 24-26). 
 
Anna Soteras went 6-0 to win the single B bracket. The freshman has started her GVSU career with a 9-0 record in singles play. Also on the singles side, Sophie Hanover went 4-1 advancing to the semifinals in the singles B bracket where she fell to Soteras 6-1, 6-3. Leonie Leister posted a 3-1 record to advance to the quarterfinals of the singles B bracket. Three Lakers advanced to the quarterfinals in the single B bracket. In the singles A bracket, Rachel Sam posted a 3-1 record to make the quarterfinals. Vasileia Griva picked up a pair of wins to advance to the round of 16. 
 
On the doubles side, Taylor Barrett and Vasileia Griva posted a 4-1 record to finish as runners-up in the A bracket. Barrett and Griva advanced to the championship match after a 9-8 win in the semifinals, winning the tiebreaker 8-6. Estefania Hernandez and Rachel Sam picked up two wins to advance to the quarterfinals in the A bracket. 
 
The Lakers will return to the courts on Saturday, October 8^th for their first dual match of the season at home against Grace College. First serve is slated for 2:00 PM.
