CALEDONIA, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's and women's tennis team opened the 2022-23 campaign at the Davenport Invitational. September 9-10. The invitaional was an open draw between, GVSU, Davenport, Ferris State and Northwood.
Sebastian Arce won the men's singles draw A after posting a 3-0 record, not dropping a set.
Patricio Sepulveda won the men's singles draw C bracket after posting a 3-0 record in his GVSU tennis debut.
Ignacio Morera-Lucas won the men's single draw B bracket after posting 3-0 record. On the doubles side,
Martin Matov and
Patricio Sepulveda won the men's doubles draw B bracket after posting a 2-0 record.
On the women's side,
Olivia Huang won the women's singles draw E bracket after posting a 3-0 record, not dropping a set.
Anna Soteras earned the women's singles draw C bracket after posting a 3-0 record in her GVSU tennis debut, while
Sophia Hanover was the finalist in that bracket with a 2-1 record. Ana Romero won the women's singles draw D bracket after posting a 3-0 record in her GVSU tennis debut, while
Leonie Leister finished in second place in that bracket with a 2-1 record in her GVSU debut. On the doubles side,
Estefania Hernandez and
Rachel Sam won the women's doubles A bracket after posting a 3-0 record.
Sophia Hanover and
Amanda Diaz won the women's doubles draw B bracket after posting a 3-0 record.
The men's team will return to the courts for the Men's ITA regional Invitational hosted by UIndy in Indianapolis from September 17-19. The women's team will return to the courts when they host the Women's ITA Regional Invitational in Allendale from September 23-25.
