ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team, and head coach
Ric Wesley, announce the signing of transfer guard Jordan Harris for the 2020-2021 season. Harris, who spent the last three seasons with Division III Adrian College, will have one year of eligibility left.
Harris is a 1,000-point scorer for his career with Adrian, earning D3hoops.com second team All-Region honors as a junior. He averaged 22.2 points per game in his final season with the Bulldogs, starting all 27 contests and leading Adrian to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. He had a game-high 18 points in the Bulldogs opening-round loss.
"Jordan is a great kid and can both really shoot. Everyone we talked to had high praise for his game on and off the court," Wesley said. "He will be a great addition to our team, both on the court and in the locker room. He's a seasoned veteran with post-season experience and we think he'll fit in nicely."
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Harris had a breakout junior year with 600 points last season and added 110 rebounds and 99 assists. He scored in double figures in 25 of his 27 games, reaching the 30-point mark six times and posted a season-high 40 while shooting 42.4% from the field and 39.7% from three.
Harris becomes the fourth signing ahead of the upcoming season, joining a pair of talented freshmen in Ethan Alderink and Trevon Gunter along fellow transfer guard, JK Lewis. With a key group of returners from last season's GLIAC South Division championship team, the Lakers are excited about what lies ahead.
"I'm very pleased with both the talent and character of the players we've added this offseason" Wesley said. "We're going to have a lot of talent and depth, which is crucial to withstand the grueling GLIAC schedule. This is going to be a great group to coach and I can't wait to see them put it all together on the floor."
