Lakers to to face Wayne State in NCAA Midwest Regionals

GVSU will face Wayne State in the first round of the Midwest Region II

NCAA Tournament Information

The Grand Valley State men's tennis team returns to action this weekend Saturday, May 11, in NCAA tournament play. The Lakers (16-8) meet GLIAC foe Wayne State (20-3) at 12 p.m. in the NCAA Midwest Region II first-round match at the WSU Tennis Courts in Detroit, Mich.
 
The Lakers enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed, as the Warriors are tagged as the No. 2 seed. This will be the second time this season that the teams will meet as WSU won the regular season match. The winner of the match will face either No. 3 Drury or No. 6 Northwood.
 
During dual matches, GVSU has posted a solid record in singles as they have gone 91-48, while they have tallied a 42-26 record in doubles. The Warriors, who were the 2019 GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament Champions have gone 101-32 in singles during dual matches and posted a 52-16 record in doubles.
 
Additionally, this is Grand Valley State's 11th appearance in the NCAA postseason including a program record sixth consecutive trip.
