SPARKS, Md. – The No. 22 Grand Valley State Lakers wrap up their spring break trip with another top-25 showdown at the US Lacrosse Complex Saturday (March 10) against No. 12 Regis at 5:00 PM. The Lakers are 1-1 on the season while Regis enters the contest 3-2 on the season.
The Lakers dominated their season-opener against Kutztown with a 16-6 win last Saturday before falling to No. 4 Le Moyne, 16-12, on Tuesday.
Ashley Bailey has four goals and five assists to lead the Lakers with nine points while
Erika Neumen has netted a team-best seven goals across the first two games of the season.
Brianna DeMilia has made 19 saves for the Lakers, including 14 on Tuesday against the Dolphins.
The Rangers scored at least 20 goals in three of their first four games, with the only exception a 12-11 loss to Indianapolis. They are coming off a loss to No. 4 Le Moyne Thursday night at the US Lacrosse Complex. Ali Vanek has been the focal point of the Rangers' attack, scoring 22 goals to go along with five assists for 27 points through the first five games of the season. Three other Rangers have scored double digit goals this year and Rachael Walker has a team-high 12 assists to go along with eight goals.
The Lakers look to split their games at the US Lacrosse Complex and return from the east coast above ,500. Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play begins next Friday (March 16) on the road against the Tiffin Dragons in Ohio.
