GVSU Finishes Third In GLIAC Tournament After 5-2 Victory Over Hillsdale

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Grand Valley State Laker men's tennis team wrapped up the GLIAC Tournament with a 5-2 victory over the Chargers of Hillsdale to place third in the three day tournament. The victory moves the Lakers to 19-7 on the season and an 8-1 mark in GLIAC play. GVSU currently ranks fourth in the Midwest Region and will have to wait until Tuesday, April 25 when the NCAA will announce the teams moving into postseason play during the selection show, which can be viewed here at 8:30 pm.

The Lakers got off on a much better start in this match as they were able to take two out of the three doubles matches. The Laker duo of Jack Heiniger and Sebastian Lescoulie took down Dugan Delp and John Ciraci by a score of 8-4. Earning the second victory in doubles was Nicholas Urban and Jack Geissler as there were able to defeat Julien Clouette and Milan Mirkovic by a 8-0 margin. 

Getting things rolling in singles play for the Lakers was Lescoulie, as he beat Justin Hyman out of the No. 1 spot by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Geissler played out of the No. 3 spot, and took down Mirkovic by a 6-3, 7-5 score. Earning the last singles win was Heiniger, who defeated Delp in a close 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 match.
