GRANDVILLE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State Men's tennis team remained undefeated this season after rolling past Davenport 8-1. The Laker's dominated singles play as they won all six matches and only dropped one of the three doubles matches. The win moves Grand Valley to 3-0 on the season heading into their first GLIAC matchup next weekend.
Moving to 2-0 on the weekend in singles play was
Sebastien Lescoulie as he defeated Matthew McClurg 6-2, 6-1 out of the No. 1 spot.
Zach Phillips got back on the winning track in his matchup against Sam Rogerson as he came out victorious by a score of 6-4, 6-3. Junior
Alex van de Steenoven also went undefeated in singles play on the weekend as he took down JP van Antwerpen by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Rounding out singles play was
Jack Geissler,
Jack Heiniger, and
Eric Zwemer who all came out victorious and completed the sweep in singles play.
The Laker's saw success at the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles spots as the duo's of van de Steenoven and Lescoulie and
Nicholas Urban and Geissler were able to take down their Panther counterparts giving the Laker's the 8-1 final score.Â
Grand Valley will be back in action Saturday, February 25 as they face off against GLIAC foe Hillsdale in Grandville, Mich. at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.Â
