ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Grand Valley State Lakers host the Rochester Warriors this Saturday in non-conference action with a 3:00 PM tip at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers offense roles into the weekend bout having scored 196 points over their last two games and looks to pick up where they left things off after the NCAA-mandated seven-day rest period. The Lakers have won two games in a row and are 5-7 on the year and 1-4 in the GLIAC while Rochester enters 11-6 on the year and 5-2 in the WHAC.

The Lakers offense has flipped a switch in their last two games, culminating in a 101-62 win over Lawrence Tech on Dec. 18 for the first triple-digit game by GVSU since November of 2015. Seven different Lakers scored in double figures in the runaway win, led by 19 points from redshirt sophomore Hunter Hale. Hale averages 14.1 points per game, which leads the Lakers and ranks ninth in the GLIAC. Hale is also tied for the fourth-most three-pointers made in the league with 32 triples on the season.

As a team, the Lakers are scoring 75.2 points per game, which is good for fifth in the GLIAC this season. The Lakers also out-rebound their opponent by 7.6 boards a game, the largest per-game margin in the GLIAC. The Lakers finished last season atop the conference in rebound differential as well. Rochester scores 76 points per game and shoots 47% from the field on the season.

Three Warriors average double-figures in scoring to help a well-balanced offensive attack. Justin Nafso leads the way with 14.5 points a game, knocking down 32 three's in 17 games this season. Kash Blackwell and Armand Cartright both average over 11.5 points a game as well. Nafso also has 111 assists on the year and 40 of the Warriors 143 steals this season.

The Lakers return to conference play next Thursday (Jan. 4) on the road at Northwood before hosting Saginaw Valley that Saturday (Jan. 6). GVSU looks to end 2017 on a high note and continue to build on the offensive momentum before resuming GLIAC play in the 2018 calendar year.
