Grand Valley State University announced a complete Arena renovation at the Raleigh J. Finkelstein Athletic Village. Construction will begin immediately, with a completion date of August 1, 2026.Â
The Arena consists of a main court, with two adjacent wooden courts and is home to the GVSU National Champion women's volleyball program, men's basketball and the three-time National Champion women's basketball program. In addition, the arena is used for concerts, lectures, student life events, local, and regional events, campus recreation intramurals and club events. The main arena structure is approximately 45,000 square feet and provides seating for just over 3,000 spectators.Â

"We are extremely appreciative of the gift that Raleigh J. Finkelstein made to Grand Valley State that will go directly towards the renovation of the arena at the Raleigh J. Finkelstein Athletic Village," said Director of Athletics
Keri Becker. "We have a championship culture at Grand Valley State, and this renovation of the arena will enhance the experience for our loyal fans who attend our events and student-athletes who use it daily," added Becker.
Arena Enhancements
Seating Upgrades
Premium seating options will include 400 cushioned chair-back seats, alongside modern bench-style seating designed for durability and a refreshed look. The arena will also feature brand-new bleachers, offering improved comfort and visibility for all guests.Â
Suites & Premium Spaces
The arena will introduce three private suites and one lounge area overlooking the court, all available for game-day rental. These premium spaces will include food and beverage service, TVs, and comfortable private seating. Each suite is designed to accommodate approximately 20 guests, while the lounge area will host up to 30 guests.
Videoboard & Technology Improvements
A new control system will allow for enhanced game-day production, complemented by a fully upgraded scoreboard. Videoboard two state-of-the-art 20' x 10' video displays will be installed to elevate the in-game experience.Â
GVSU is partnering with Integrated Architecture and Erhardt Construction on this project.Â
