Grand Valley State will square off with #16 Armstrong State in a College World Series elimination game on Wednesday night (May 18) on day two of the National Championships Festival in Denver, Colo. Both the Lakers and Pirates fell on the opening day of competition at the Regency Athletic Complex in downtown Denver, forcing an elimination contest between the two schools at 7:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m MDT).

GVSU (43-12) dropped a 4-0 decision to #1 West Texas A&M in the opening game of the national tournament, as the Lady Buffs scored all four runs in the fourth inning. Armstrong State (40-14) fell to #5 Humboldt State by a 3-2 score in the second game, as the Pirates allowed all three Humboldt State runs in the third frame.

The winner of the GVSU-Armstrong State contest will face the loser of the #3 North Alabama-Adelphi game on Thursday (May 19) at 12:00 p.m. MDT (2:00 p.m. ET). The loser of the Grand Valley State-ASU game will be eliminated from the tournament.
