ALLENDALE, Mich. - #37 Grand Valley State wrapped up the regular season at home with a 6-3 win over Walsh at the GVSU Tennis Courts. With their seventh-consecutive win, the Lakers conclude the regular season with a 15-6 overall record and 8-1 mark in the conference.

The Lakers, who clinched the second-seed and a first round bye in the GLIAC Tournament, jumped ahead of the Cavaliers (11-11, 4-5 GLIAC) by winning two out of three matches in doubles competition.

Michael Kaye took match No. 3 8-2. Although
Jack Heiniger/
Sebastien Lescoulie fell in the second doubles match, they took it to a tiebreaker point before losing 9-8 (10-3).

GVSU won four out of six singles matches to win the day. Heiniger in the No. 4 spot (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) and Bole in the No. 5 position (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) both required a third set to get the win, while Phillips in the No. 2 spot (7-6 (8-6), 7-5) and
Nicholas Urban in at No. 6 (6-0, 6-4) only needed two sets to get their wins.

The Lakers now set their sights on winning the 2016 GLIAC Tournament in Midland, Michigan. Grand Valley State will open their tournament play in the Second Round on April 30, and will take on the winner of the match between the four-seed and the fifth-seed.
