th-ranked Grand Valley State locked up the No. 2 seed in the 2016 GLIAC Men's Tennis Tournament with a strong showing against Tiffin on Saturday, claiming an 8-1 win to improve to 14-6 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

The Lakers, also ranked third in the Midwest Region in the latest NCAA Division II regional rankings, got off to a hot start against the Dragons (14-11, 6-2 GLIAC) by sweeping doubles competition by a combined score of 25-16.

Nicholas Urban won match No. 3 8-3 to earn the three team points.

GVSU went five-for-six in singles play to lock up their sixth consecutive win. The Lakers picked up wins from Steenoven in the No. 1 spot (7-5, 6-3), Phillips at No. 2 (6-3, 6-4), Lescoulie in the No. 3 position (6-3, 6-2), Heiniger at No. 4 (7-6 (7-4), 6-4), and Urban in No. 6 (6-4, 6-0). In total, Grand Valley State outscored Tiffin in singles competition by the score of 38-24, 36-14.

The Lakers will wrap up the regular season at home on Sunday (Apr. 24) at 11 am against Walsh. The Lakers will also be honoring
