Video ALLENDALE, Mich. – #11 Grand Valley State is back at it again on Saturday when they travel to Syracuse, New York to take on second-ranked Le Moyne (2-0) at noon. 2-2 following their 13-11 win over #19 Bentley on Tuesday (Mar. 8), Grand Valley State retained their #11 ranking in the latest IWLCA Coaches' Poll released on Monday. GVSU received 215 votes to rank 11
th in the coaches poll.
Against Bentley on Tuesday,
Erika Neumen and
Ryan Skomial led the team in scoring with three goals each as the Lakers held on from a furious Bentley second-half rally to take the two-goal win in an important in-region contest. Skomial added three assists to give her six points in the day, while Neumen led all players with five draw control wins.
Kira Dosenberry led the team with five ground balls and two caused turnovers, while
Sarah Zwilsky earned the win by making four saves in 38:05 of play between the pipes.
Saturday's opponent, #2 Le Moyne, will be the fourth team the Lakers have played that began the year ranked inside the top five. The Dolphins, picked to finish second in the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, are led on offense by Preseason All-American Erika Geremia. The reigning Division II Player of the Year, Geremia has put up three goals and two assists for nine points in Le Moyne's first two games of the season. Bryanna Fazio is another player the Lakers must account for on Saturday, as the freshman leads the team with 17 draw control wins along with tallying eight points on six goals and two assists. Vicki Graveline leads the team in caused turnovers with five, while the GVSU offense will see either Ryan Cortese or Christina Humbert standing in goal for Le Moyne.

Saturday's contest concludes a string of five-consecutive road games to open the season for Grand Valley State, as the Lakers host their first opponent of the season on March 24 when they take on McKendree in the beginning of GLIAC play.
