Women's Lacrosse Named to IWLCA All-Academic Squad List

GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team has been named one of 50 NCAA Division II and NAIA institutions to be named an Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) in a press release on Monday morning.

Grand Valley State is one of five GLIAC schools honored by the IWLCA on Monday, joining Lake Erie, McKendree, Findlay, and Tiffin as All-Academic squads for the 2014-15 school year. This makes it four straight years GVSU has been recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom.

Grand Valley State wrapped up its most successful season to date in 2015, concluding the year with a 15-4 overall record and their third consecutive sweep of the GLIAC regular season and tournament titles by beating Tiffin 22-13 in the GLIAC Tournament Championship. The Lakers ended the year as the 14th ranked team in the country thanks to a 12-game winning streak to close out the season.

GVSU saw 10 of its players receive All-GLIAC honors, including five First Team honorees, while Alyssa Neumen and Erika Neumen were honored as IWLCA All-North Region and All-American selections. Head coach Alicia Groveston earned her third GLIAC Coach of the Year award as her team topped the regular season standings with a 7-0 record in her fourth year at the helm.
