Allendale, Mich. -- The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, were released on Thursday (May 14) morning, and three Grand Valley State student-athletes were among the recipients. Women's golfers Kelly Hartigan and Gabrielle Shipley, as well as men's swimmer Gianni Ferrero earned Academic All-District 4 honors.

Ferrero, a native of Idstein, Germany, carries a 4.0 grade point average as an international business and management major. In the pool, Ferrero earned six All-America honors. At the 2015 NCAA Championships, he took second in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard butterfly, finished third in the 200-yard butterfly, and helped the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relay teams to top-10 finishes. His sixth All-America honor came by way of a 14th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Hartigan, who is currently competing in the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, tallied three victories this season, with the most recent coming at the NCAA East Super Regional. GVSU's all-time wins leader, Hartigan is one of only six golfers in conference history to earn four All-GLIAC First Team lauerls, and became the only women's golfer since at least 2003 to take first place individually in multiple NCAA East Regionals. The Lake Orion, Michigan native is an allied health sciences major.

Shipley, a hospitality tourism management major, recently completed one of the most successful individual campaigns in GVSU history. En route to five wins, tied for the second-most by any Laker in a single season, the 2015 GLIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Year posted a 74.82 scoring average, which was just shy of matching the school record. Moreover, the Hastings, Michigan product's scoring average versus par (2.89) broke the single-season school record. Shipley also tallied eight top-three finishes.

All three will be placed on Capital One Academic All-America At-Large ballots, with the teams being revealed the week of June 8-11.
