ResultsWINTER PARK, Fla. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday as the Lakers suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of 13th-ranked Rollins. The loss puts GVSU at 5-2 on the year, while the Tars improved to 5-4 with the win.
The match started off poitively for the Lakers, as they won two of the three doubles matches to jump out to a 2-1 lead.
Zach Phillips/
Alex van de Steenoven won an incredibly tight contest from the No. 2 doubles spot (9-8 [8-6]), and
Jack Heiniger/
Quinn Sylow also took another close decision in the No. 3 match (8-6).
Unfortunately, Grand Valley State couldn't transition their success from doubles into singles action, as GVSU lost all but one singles match.
Bryan Hodges was the lone Laker to score a victory, as he won 6-3, 7-6 in the No. 5 position. Phillips, Heiniger, and
Andrew Bole were all able to push their matches into a tiebreaking third set, but neither were able to emerge victorious.
