Grand Valley State Falls 6-3 Against #36 Missouri-St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – One week after returning from their Spring Break trip to Florida, the Grand Valley State men's tennis team fell on Saturday (Mar. 14), 6-3, to #36 Missouri-St. Louis at the UMSL Tennis Courts. The loss drops the Lakers' record to 6-4, while the win gives the Tritons a 4-3 record.

GVSU won two of the three doubles matches to pull ahead 2-1. Zach Phillips/Alex van de Steenoven took the No. 2 match (8-5), while Jack Heiniger/Quinn Sylow in the No. 3 spot were victorious (8-4).

Unfortunately, the Lakers were unable to translate their success in doubles competition over to the singles competition. The Tritons took five out of the six singles matches to pull away with the win. Phillips was the only Laker to win his match, taking the No. 2 match in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).

Grand Valley State is back in action on Saturday (Mar. 15) when they head to Saint Charles, Missouri to compete against #47 Lindenwood at noon.
