The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced today that Grand Valley State junior third baseman
Caleb Estrada has been named the GLIAC Player of the Week. Estrada hit .526 for the weekend series at #19 Wayne State, going 10-for-19 with seven runs scored, three home runs, a double, nine RBIs and 20 total bases. Estrada had a slugging percentage of 1.053, on base percentage of .526 and an OPS of 1.105. Estrada collected two or more hits and runs in three-of-four games. He was 3-for-6 with three runs, two home runs and seven RBIs in the Lakers' 14-6 win in game three, while going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI in game four. Estrada leads the GLIAC in home runs with 12, ranks second in hits (55) and RBIs (45) and fourth in batting average (.407). In addition, Estrada has 17 multi-hit games, 12 multi-RBI games, a current 30-game reached base streak and a season-best 17-game hitting streak.
Grand Valley State will will begin a four-game series at Roosevelt Friday (April 10) at 3:00 p.m. (CT). Estrada's GLIAC honor marks the fifth time in eight weeks that a Laker has been named GLIAC Player of the Week.
