Lakers Host SVSU Tuesday, Travel to Roosevelt Wednesday

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State softball team returns home for a doubleheader against Saginaw Valley State before hitting the road for a doubleheader at Roosevelt. The Lakers will face SVSU on Tuesday, April 7th at 3:00 PM in Allendale and will then travel to Chicago to face Roosevelt on Wednesday, April 8th at 2:00 PM ET.

GVSU is 17-13 overall on the season and 7-1 in the GLIAC. The Lakers swept Wayne State last weekend for their fifth and sixth straight wins. The Lakers enter the weekend having won seven out of their last nine games. GVSU is second in the conference with a .322 team batting average and are tied for first with a 2.45 ERA. Freshman Camryn Hall is first in the conference hitting .474 on the season with 20 runs scored and 13 RBI. Senior Elizabeth Wesoloski is sixth in the GLIAC with a .398 batting average and leads the team with 16 RBI. Faith Edwards has notched a .356 batting average with a team leading seven doubles and is second on the team with 19 runs scored. Sophomore pitcher Karli Dorr is second in the conference with a 1.85 ERA in 68 innings pitched and is fourth with 64 strikeouts. Senior pitcher Navaeh Ingram leads the GLIAC with a 1.83 ERA on the season and has tossed six complete games. 
 
Saginaw Valley State enters Tuesday's doubleheader with a 19-9 record and 9-1 GLIAC mark. The Cardinals swept Roosevelt and Parkside in a pair of home doubleheaders before splitting a doubleheader with Purdue Northwest last weekend. SVSU is tied with GVSU with a conference best 2.45 team ERA. Aalana Kimble is third in the GLIAC with a 1.93 ERA and fifth with 57 strikeouts. Kimble has posted an 7-4 record in the circle with 10 complete games in 13 starts. Kimble also leads the Cardinal offense hitting .442 on the season with 34 hits and five doubles. Macy Irelan is fourth in the GLIAC with a 2.20 ERA and is third with 70 strikeouts. Irelan is 8-4 on the season with eight complete games in 11 starts.


Roosevelt is 7-23on the season and 1-9 in the GLIAC while hitting .232 on the season. Rebecca Urbaniak is hitting .323 on the season with 21 hits and eight runs scored. Kendall Pearson has notched a .321 average with a team leading two triples. Kailey Hancock leads the Roosevelt pitching staff with a 2.43 ERA in 49 innings tossed. Riley Czarnecki leads Roosevelt with 25 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched.
