Lakers Set to Host Roosevelt and Parkside

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State softball team returns home for a pair of GLIAC doubleheaders this weekend. The Lakers will host Roosevelt on Saturday, April 18th at 1:00 PM and Parkside on Sunday, April 19th at 1:00 PM. 
 
GVSU is 19-19 on the season and 9-7 in the GLIAC. Freshman Kylee Hoebeke was named the GLIAC player of the week for the first time in her career. Hoebeke drove in a career high eight RBI with a home run and triple in the win at Roosevelt. She launched her third home run of the season at Davenport last Sunday. Freshman Camryn Hall leads GVSU with a .432 batting average with 54 hits and 30 runs scored. Hall also leads the Lakers with 11 stolen bases in 12 attempts. Sophomore Grace Usher is hitting .373 on the season with a team leading three home runs and 30 RBI. Sophomore Karli Dorr has posted an 8-3 record with a 2.39 ERA in the circle. Dorr has tossed nine complete games with a team leading 82 strikeouts. 
 
Roosevelt travels to Allendale with a 9-27 overall record and 3-13 in the GLIAC. GVSU split with Roosevelt on the road in the first doubleheader last week dropping game one 7-6 in eight innings before winning game two 13-0 in five innings. Roosevelt is hitting .236 as a team led by Ella Dvoracek who is hitting .322 with 37 hits, 16 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases. Kendall Pearson has notched a .308 batting average with 28 hits and 10 runs scored. Kailey Hancock has posted a 3.80 ERA in the circle with a 4-6 record in 20 appearances. Riley Czarnecki leads Roosevelt with 37 strikeouts. 
 
Parkside is 16-22 on the season and 7-9 in the GLIAC. The Lakers split with the Rangers in the GLIAC opening doubleheader earlier this season. GVSU won game one 9-1 before falling 2-0 in game two. Parkside is hitting .267 on the season as a team led by Mia Johnson who leads the GLIAC with a .463 average with 17 doubles and 12 home runs. Johnson also leads the Rangers with 35 RBI and 41 runs scored. Isabel Aranda is hitting .339 on the season with 37 hits, 24 RBI, and 22 runs scored. Holly Lowenberg leads Parkside with a 2.87 ERA with a 6-6 record in the circle. Lowenberg has made 15 appearances striking out 51 batters. Casey Jo Vermett is 9-5 on the season with a GLIAC leading 135 strikeouts.
