DH Josh Fleming And P Owen Avery Honored With GLIAC Weekly Baseball

#7 Grand Valley State swept the GLIAC weekly baseball honors for the fourth time this season it was announced by the league office. Freshman DH Josh Fleming was named the Player of the Week, while junior pitcher Owen Avery was named the Pitcher of the Week. GVSU swept a GLIAC series at Roosevelt, scoring 60 runs, hitting .385 and holding Roosevelt to a .241 batting average. 

Fleming hit .750 for the series, going 9-for-12 with three home runs, two doubles, 10 RBIs, 10 runs scored, 20 total bases, three walks, two hit by pitches and two stolen bases. Fleming reached base in 15-of-18 plate appearances and tallied a 1.667 slugging percentage, .737 on base percentage and a 2.404 OPS for the weekend. Fleming ended the weekend with a 3-for-3 outing that included five RBI, two home runs and four runs scored.  

Avery yielded just a fifth inning double as the Lakers claimed a 6-0 shutout victory Roosevelt in game two of the series. Avery went six innings, yielding just one hit with two strikeouts and an opponent batting average of .056. Avery improved to 6-0 on the year with a 2.62 ERA and 33 strikeouts.
