Softball Hosts Lewis in Home Opener Wednesday

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State softball team opens their 2026 home schedule with a doubleheader against Lewis on Wednesday, March 25th at 3:00 PM at the GVSU Softball Field. 
 
GVSU opened their GLIAC schedule last weekend on the road against Parkside. The Lakers defeated the Rangers 9-1 in game one before falling 2-0 in game two. Karli Dorr struck out a career high 12 batters in game one allowing just one run off five hits. Elizabeth Wesoloski launched her first home run of the season in the win while Faith Edwards notched five hits with two doubles over the two games. 
 
The Lakers are 10-12 on the season and 1-1 in the GLIAC. GVSU is hitting .308 as a team led by freshman Camryn Hall who ranks sixth in the GLIAC hitting .406 on the season. Hall leads the Lakers with 28 hits and is second with 13 runs scored and 11 runs batted in. Senior Elizabeth Wesoloski leads the team with 12 RBIs and ranks second with a .381 batting average. The Laker pitching staff has posted a GLIAC best 2.50 team ERA. Freshman Allison Wright leads the GLIAC with a 1.22 ERA in five appearances. Sophomore Karli Dorr leads the team and ranks fourth in the GLIAC with 45 strikeouts.
 
Lewis is 12-10 on the season and 3-1 in the GLIAC. The Flyers have won nine out of there last 10 games including four games scoring over 10 runs during that span. Lewis is hitting .345 on the season led by Erica Hoffman who is hitting .480 on the season. Anna Frafjord is hitting .435 with a team leading six home runs, five triples, and 32 runs batted in. The Flyer pitching staff has posted a 5.64 team ERA. Chloe Gust leads Lewis with a 2.93 ERA in 43 innings pitched.
