Lakers Begin Conference Play at Parkside and Roosevelt

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State softball team is set to begin conference play this weekend on the road at Parkside and Roosevelt. The Lakers will face Parkside on Saturday, March 21st at 1:00 PM ET in Franklin, Wisconsin and Roosevelt on Sunday, March 22nd at 2:00 PM ET.

GVSU enters GLIAC play with a 9-11 record. The Lakers played 10 games in Florida last week at The Spring Games and went 4-6. Freshman Camryn Hall leads the Lakers with a .452 batting average, 28 hits, 13 runs scored, and 11 runs batted in. Hall also leads the team with a .500 on-base percentage and five steals. Senior Elizabeth Wesoloski is hitting .373 on the season with 22 hits and 10 RBIs. Junior Faith Edwards has notched a .328 average with a team leading five doubles and eight walks. Freshman pitcher Allison Wright leads the Laker staff with a 1.22 ERA in 23 innings pitched. Wright is second on the team with 18 strikeouts. Senior Nevaeh Ingram has posted a 1.84 ERA in six appearances. Ingram has tossed three complete games and 26.2 innings. Sophomore Karli Dorr leads the Lakers with 33 strikeouts including two games striking out a career high 10 batters.
 
Parkside is 9-13 on the season and have won three out of their last four games. The Rangers swept Quincy in a road doubleheader early this week. On the season, Parkside is hitting .283 as a team led by Mia Johnson who is hitting .532 with 33 hits, 27 runs, scored, 22 RBIs, 12 doubles and eight home runs. Isabel Aranda is hitting .339 on the season with 20 hits, four doubles and 10 runs scored. The Parkside pitching staff has tossed a 3.79 ERA this season. Holly Lowenberg has notched a 2.69 ERA in 11 appearances. Lowenberg has tossed six complete games and has struck out 38 batters this season.
 
Roosevelt is 6-14 on the season and is hitting .232 on the season. Rebecca Urbaniak is hitting .323 on the season with 21 hits and eight runs scored. Kendall Pearson has notched a .321 average with a team leading two triples. Kailey Hancock leads the Roosevelt pitching staff with a 2.43 ERA in 49 innings tossed. Riley Czarnecki leads Roosevelt with 25 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched.
