ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team competed in the ITA Midwest Regional Championship and swept all three of the doubles brackets. This marks the second straight year a GVSU doubles pair claimed the top doubles draw championship.
Patricio Sepulveda and
Bora Bakici claimed the top doubles draw championship. The pair went 5-0 over the last three days and won their final match by a score of 6-3, 6-4. Sepulveda and Bakici have punched their ticket to the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia beginning on October 16
th.
Jorge Ruiz and
Andreu Martin posted a 5-0 record to claim the doubles B draw championship. The pair claimed an 8-4 victory in the championship match.
Axel Le Ho and Jose Pablos Mozas Pavon completed the sweep for GVSU going 5-0 to claim the doubles C draw championship. The pair notched an 8-3 win in the championship match this afternoon.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov went 4-1 and advanced to the semifinals in the top doubles draw.
In singles action,
Denys Zamaraiev a 4-1 record on the week, making a semifinal appearance in the top singles draw.
Axel Le Ho also posted a 4-1 record to advance to the semifinals in the singles B draw.
Andreu Martin went 3-1, making the quarterfinals in the singles B draw.
