Men's Golf To Host Folds of Honor Challenge

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State men's golf team is set to play in their lone home tournament of the fall, partnering with the Golf Coaches' Association of American, to host the Folds of Honor Challenge. The winner of the event will gain an automatic entry into the 2026 Folds of Honor Collegiate.

Grand Valley State began their fall campaign last week at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, placing ninth, their best finish ever at the event. Manuel Cue Vargas finished in 11th to pace the Lakers, followed by Bryce Wheeler, Charlie Cooley, and Maverick Conaway tied for 28th. Ryan Gallagher ended in 42nd after the three rounds.
 
This will be the third edition of the Folds of Honor Challenge, an event for non-Division I schools to get a chance to play in the following year's Folds of Honor Collegiate. The Lakers have won all three years this tournament has been played. In the field this year, GVSU is the lone ranked team, coming in at 15th in the GCAA poll. There are four teams receiving votes in the DII poll, Wayne State, Dallas Baptist, Findlay, and UIndy. The field also features some Division III, NAIA, and junior college schools. It will be a three-day event, featuring 18 holes each day.
 
In the lineup for the Lakers will be Manuel Cue, Maverick Conaway, Charlie Cooley, Bryce Wheeler, and Emil Olofsson. Four individuals will also be teeing off for GVSU. Those four are Ryan Gallagher, Finley Dober, Murphy Kehoe, and Andrew Gwilliams. Tee times have not been set yet for the opening round.
